BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The emerging field of rehabilitation science will be the subject of a one-day conference April 28 in the 蜜桃传媒 Inn and Conference Center, 2401 North Forest Road, Getzville.

"Issues in Graduate Education and Research" will be the theme for the conference, sponsored by the 蜜桃传媒's doctoral program in rehabilitation science.

Presenters will include Kate Seelman, Ph.D., director of the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), and Marcus Fuhrer, Ph.D., former director of the National Center on Medical Rehabilitation Research of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and NIH extramural scientist emeritus.

The cost of the conference is $75, which includes lunch. The registration fee is waived for UB faculty, staff and students, who will be charged for lunch only. Reservations should be made through Shari Wilson at 829-3141.

Issues to be discussed will include curricula in existing graduate programs in rehabilitation science, current areas of research, areas where more study is needed and research methods appropriate to the field.

Seelman will present the opening address, "Rehabilitation Science and the NIDRR," at 9 a.m., following introductory remarks by William C. Mann, Ph.D., director of the UB doctoral program and chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy. Fuhrer will speak following Seelman's address.

o 1-4:30 p.m. -- Descriptions of rehabilitation science doctoral programs by Carolyn Braun, Ph.D., Washington 蜜桃传媒; Ken Ottenbacher, Ph.D., 蜜桃传媒 of Texas at Galveston; Rory Cooper, Ph.D., 蜜桃传媒 of Pittsburgh; Sharon Wood-Dauphine, Ph.D., McGill 蜜桃传媒; Kay Walker, Ph.D., 蜜桃传媒 of Florida, and Mann from UB.

Posters sessions will be held at 10: 30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
